Architects are professionals who are involved in the planning, creative design and the project management of a residential building or commercial building. Architects must also understand building regulations and make sure the safety of the public is taken into account in the structure of the building. Once an architect accepts a commission from his client he would be involved in the tender process and advise on the awarding of the project to a building contractor and follow the progress of the construction. Architects also have to make sure the planning laws, planning regulations, zoning and building codes are adhered to by liaising with the local planning authorities from whom he receives the planning permission for the construction.
